Hello, my name is Anna. This blog is about all the beautiful islands around the world.

140 islands of japan

We've already had some cards from a couple of Japanese islands, you can find them here, and now I have a series of Japanese cards to show you, each telling us a bit more about this country, I hope you'll enjoy this. I am also a big fan of Japanese stamps and cancellations, so it is also another reason to show you some more cards from Japan.

As you can see this card gathers some facts about Japan, like e.g. that there are 6,852 islands in the Japanese archipelago. Only 430 are inhabited, but that is still a lot of postcards to collect ;). Another thing — cats! First of all we have the Maneki Neko cats that bring good luck. In Gotokuji in the suburbs of Tokyo, there is an amazing temple where you can see thousands of them.

There are also the cat cafes, where you can have a coffee while playing with cats. There were actually two cat cafes in Budapest where I used to live, so you can go there if you're too far from Japan.

And speaking of cafes, there is one more interesting place you can visit while in Japan. In Fukuoka, there is a Moomin Cafe where you can have a drink accompanied by one of the Moomin Characters, just like the one on the stamp here!

What do you associate most with Japan? Would you like to visit any of these places I mentioned here? (I would! :))

  3. I'm glad that you are "back"!
Of course I'd like to visit Japan one day... I just adore Japanese stamps. I'd be happy enough lately to receive a letter and a postcard from there. And now I'm waiting for another postcards, yay!
