Hello, my name is Anna. This blog is about all the beautiful islands around the world.

77 trinidad

This next card was sent from Trinidad. It is the largest and most populated of 23 islands that make up the island nation of Trinidad and Tobago.

The island was first called "Iëre", by the Arawaks, who lived there together with the Caribs. The first European who visited the island was Christopher Columbus in 1498, and it was also he who renamed it to "la Isla de la Trinidad".

Trinidad is a perfect place for those who love music and festivals. It is home to the largest carnival in the Caribbean, a colourful event with music, dancing and many competitions, such as costume competition and steelband’s contest, where people play the steelpan drum, an instrument that has its origin on the island. Moreover, Trinidad island is where the limbo dance was created.

If you'd like to know more about the Carnival and the island, visit this website. Thank you Tony for this card!
