Hello, my name is Anna. This blog is about all the beautiful islands around the world.

72 prince of wales island

This postcard has travelled all the way from Prince od Wales Island in Alaska.

As I can read on the card 'the island is a remote and wild place'. You can get there either by boat or by seaplane. The boat journey takes 3 hours from the mainland. In the summer many tourists visit the island, especially since it is covered by the Tongass National Forest, where eagles, bears or spawning salmon can be spotted. The island is also the only place where The Prince of Wales flying squirrel can be found.

Alaska is really big, with not that many people, that's why it's also pristine, and not so polluted as other regions. It is also known as the 'land of the midnight sun' - if you come during summer, you'll see why - then the sun still shines even at midnight.

If you'd like to know more, have a look at the guide to the PoW island. Thank you Dixie for sharing a bit of your Alaskan life with me! :)

  1. Ale dzisiaj pokazałaś dużo ciekawych miejsc na pocztówkach.
Znaczki z niedźwiadkami wygrywają, bo kocham misie polarne!
P.S. Dziękuję za Twojego maila, być może skorzystam :)
