Hello, my name is Anna. This blog is about all the beautiful islands around the world.

153 sifnos

Sifnos, another island visited by Eva. She was actually writing this card in the same place this photo was taken, amazing! Eva descibes this island as a beautiful and peaceful place, so I am not surprised that she fell in love with it.

One of the most fascinating things about this island is that there are 360 churches on Sifnos, almost one for each day of the year! That's actually quite incredible, it is more than on any other island in Cyclades, and definitely more than I can imagine on such area (73.94 km2). Because of it, there are also many festivals held on Sifnos.

The island is also known for pottery. Since ancient times, there has been a great tradition in pottery, and pottery shops can be found all around the island. Also traces of old potteries can be found at villages such as Faros, Platis Gialos, Kamares and Vathi. If you'd like to learn more about art & culture of Sifnos, visit its website.
