Hello, my name is Anna. This blog is about all the beautiful islands around the world.

135 rhodes

Third Greek island in the project — Rhodes!

Even though this card had only less than 1500km to travel, it arrived in my mailbox after over two months! Elektra, who sent it, comes from Rhodes, so she visits the island quite often. She sent the card in January, and as she wrote, there were not too many cards to choose from, since most of the tourist shops were closed. Still, I think the card shows a bit of what the island has to offer, the long beaches and hilly landscape.

Apart from the city of Rhodes, one of the most visited places on the island is Lindos (which you can see on the first photo in the end of this post). In the acropolis of Lindos, fortified successively by the Greeks, the Romans, the Byzantines, the Knights of St John and the Ottomans, you can still see parts of buildings dating from as early as the 4th century BC. And of course it has a spectacular view of the surrounding harbours and coastline. // Thank you Elektra!

My big dream is to receive postcards sent from every island in the world (at least those that have a postbox). If you would like to help me, please contact me at letters.from.islands@gmail.com.
