The Republic of Seychelles consists of 115 islands, and this card has travelled from the largest one, Mahé.
The island, named after Bertrand-François Mahé de La Bourdonnais, a French governor of Mauritius, is home to one of the world's smallest capitals — Victoria, and to almost 90% of the Seychelles' population.
As Lonely Planet nicely puts it: “when it comes to wishing for the archetypal idyllic island, it's impossible to think past the glorious bays caressed by the gorgeously multi-hued waters of Mahé. To the northeast, a range of granite peaks, including Mahé's highest point, Morne Seychellois (905m), adds to this vivid panorama. Wherever you're based, paradise lies close at hand.”
This postcard was a lovely surprise from Yves, who works in the tourism industry — I must admit that sharing such beautiful cards is definitely a great way to promote the island. Thank you!
