Hello, my name is Anna. This blog is about all the beautiful islands around the world.

63 maui

Next beautiful map and next Hawaiian island: Maui. Cindy, who was so kind to send this card, lives on this second-largest island in the archipelago, but is originally from its neighbour Moloka'i.

If you look on the postcard, you can see two things drawn next to Maui island, the Haleakalā volcano and silversword plant. This special plant, called ʻāhinahina in Hawaiian (very gray), can be found in the Haleakalā national park, on the elevations above 2,100m. The park's and volcanoe's name - Haleakalā, means "house of the sun", and as the legend says, the demigod Maui once stood on the volcano’s summit and caught the sun to slow its descent and make the day longer. It is especially worth climbing up the volcano early in the morning to watch the sunrise - have a look on the photo in the bottom of this post, and see how amazing the views are!

Thank you Cindy for this lovely card!

    1. Nie trać nadziei, ostatnio moje kartki do Niemiec podróżowały ponad 3 tygodnie mimo priorytetu, a tutaj cały ocean do przebycia :)!
