The largest and most populous Greek island, cradle of the oldest European civilization, and according to Greek Mythology - birthplace of the King of the Gods - Zeus.
Crete, located in the southern part of the Aegean Sea, is especially popular thanks to its beautiful, clean beaches, crystal-clear waters, and healing air - even in ancient times, Hippocrates was prescribing ‘Cretan air’ to his patients!
It's also where the famous Palace of Knossos is located. As the legend says, there was a labirynth underneath the palace, built for the Minotaur, a monster with the head of a bull and the body of a human. Both the palace and the labirynth have been recreated near the island's capital, Heraklion. If you'd like to read more about different places on the island, and their history, have a look here. And big thanks to Rena for sending this card from Crete!

I was last summer in Crete. I think I never had the feeling that I was on an island. It's too big!
ReplyDeletethat's true, I guess usually the bigger the island, the less it feels like it.
DeleteZnaczek z rowerem jest bardzo ładny :) I do tego taki multi z Krety, z której wcale nie tak łatwo otrzymać kartkę, gratuluję :)
