43 luzon
The next postcard is from the largest island in Philippines, Luzon.
Country's capital - Manila, that you can see on the card, is located on this island, which makes it the country’s economic and political center. It is the 15th largest island in the world and one of the most densely populated. Luzon is actually also a name of island group, that includes Batanes and Babuyan group of islands in the north and the main and outlying islands of Romblon, Masbate, Mindoro, Marinduque and Catanduanes in the south. That means many more postcards for me to collect ;)!
Especially worth visiting are the rice terraces in the northern part of the island (that you can see on one of the pictures in the end of this post), called the Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras. They were built by the Ifugao minority around 2000 years ago and passed on from generation to generation, and in 1995 they got inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
