Hello, my name is Anna. This blog is about all the beautiful islands around the world.

12 cyprus

This next postcard is from Tania, who has lived on Cyprus for 2 years now. She has chosen this postcard, because it actually shows the island's shape - and I love it, I especially enjoy maps and such map-like cards. Thank you Tania :)!

Cyprus, located 75km from Turkey, is divided into Independent Republic of Cyprus and “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus”. That's why it has also two official languages (Greek and Turkish), but what you would actually here are their Cypriot varieties. English is also widely spoken, as the island was colonized by Britain in 1878 (and got independence in 1960).

My big dream is to receive postcards sent from every island in the world (at least those that have a postbox). If you would like to help me, please contact me at letters.from.islands@gmail.com.
